Providing Quality of Service Support for VANET: Survey

VANET is an emerging new technology developed by integrating ad hoc network, wireless LAN (WLAN) and cellular technology to enable intelligent inter-vehicle communications and to improve road traffic safety and efficiency. VANET are distinguished from other kinds of ad hoc networks by their hybrid network architectures, node movement characteristics, and new application scenarios. Therefore, VANET pose many unique networking research challenges in specific areas including Quality of Services (QoS), efficient channel utilization, scalability, mobility and security and the design of an Qos aware routing protocol for VANET is very crucial. Research work is related to explore the various challenges related to communication over VANET by considering the Qos constraints. Provision of Qos constraints are important factors that can affect the performance of the routing protocol. Due to the different issues such as variation in the node density, unne-cessary flow of control information, mobile environment can degrade the performance of entire network due to the extra control overhead.
